"Who Is That Old Woman?" is not a song about growing old. It is a song about eternal life and eternal youth......... A few months before my mother's passing, she was staying with my sister Joy. Joy told me that when my mother saw herself in a mirror she would jokingly say, "Who is that old woman?" The song grew out of that remark.....The wonderful singer Thelma Jones made this recording with Karen Hernandez on piano. Once, before singing the song in a church, Thelma told the congregation: "I love this song because it speaks directly to the transient and fleeting nature of this existence and to the beauty of what waits beyond." (Note: At Letter J, the singer may repeat the whole chorus, if desired. This is done in the lead sheet for the Soprano/Tenor version.)
